The Zrenjanin Water Treatment Public–Private Partnership (PPP) Project is Serbia’s first potable water PPP, developed and operated by Metito Utilities. With a total investment of approximately €20 million, the project upgrades and operates the drinking water treatment plant that restores safe and reliable water to over 70,000 residents after a 21-year ban on potable water supply, ensuring full compliance with national quality standards. Metito Utilities has expanded and modernized the facility with advanced treatment technologies, automation systems, and high-efficiency equipment. As a first-of-its-kind PPP in the country, the project is an example of delivering a sustainable and bankable model for municipal water infrastructure, demonstrating effective public–private collaboration and strengthening long-term water security, community resilience, and alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
