Within this framework, MUL has been responsible for raising the necessary equity and debt funding for the projects as well as the overall responsibility of construction and operation of the treatment facilities. MUL and its clients enter into a long term concession agreement for bulk water supply or wastewater treatment. Such contracts that MUL has executed include:

Dubai Investments Park (DIP) – United Arab Emirates

 
Project

The DIP Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) was the first BOOT in the UAE. The project is a 30 year agreement for the treatment of domestic and semi-domestic (light industrial) waste. Treated effluent produced by the plant is used by DIP primarily for irrigation purposes.

Capacity Current capacity of 31,000 m3/d with further expansions to be added  
     

Nanchang Qingshanhu Wastewater Treatment Plant (NQP) – China

 
Project

This project was the first wastewater BOT in China and has been operational since 2003 (total concession period 21.5 years). Services provided include the building, financing, operation, maintenance and the eventual transfer of the wastewater treatment plants.

The plant serves an estimated population of 1.3 million.

Capacity The plant has a current capacity of 510,000 m3/d with an estimated ultimate capacity of 1,000,000 m3/d  
     

Riffa Views – Kingdom of Bahrain

 
Project

Riffa Views is an upscale residential development in Manama, Bahrain. The project is based on a 30 year BOOT wastewater treatment concession (operational since 2007). Treated effluent produced is used for irrigating the golf course.

The project serves 1,000 villas spread across 3 communities, occupying 23 million sqft

Capacity Installed capacity of 3,600m3/day  
     

Takeover – Operate – Transfer (TOT)

MUL has taken over existing assets and successfully operated them on behalf of its clients. Under this model, MUL is responsible for refurbishment of the asset and ensuring operational efficiency. Plants are managed and operated against set Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

Hefei Wangxiaoying Sewage Treatment Plant (HWC) – China

 
Project

HWC was the first wastewater TOT concession in China. A 23 year TOT concession operational since 1998. Services provided include the operation, maintenance and the eventual transfer of the wastewater treatment plant.

The plant serves an estimated population of 1 million

Capacity Installed capacity of 310,000 m3/d  
     

Full Concessions

MUL has gone beyond the boundaries of the treatment facilities and has offered a full spectrum of services to its end users. Such services not only include the provision of water supply or wastewater treatment, but also the responsibility of operating and managing water distribution and sewage collection networks including billing and collection of individual end users and customer service.

Nabq Bay, Sharm El Sheikh – Egypt

 
Project

Nabq is a major set of tourist developments consisting of a number of hotels and large housing developments. MUL has built a central desalination plant and distribution network to supply the bay. The plant has been operational since 2002, where MUL is fully responsible for the supply of water to its end users as well as billing and collection services for a 25 year period.

The project currently serves 43 hotels

Capacity Current installed capacity of 21,000 m3/d with envisaged future expansions to meet growing demand
