The Al Wakrah and Al Wukair Wastewater Treatment Public–Private Partnership (PPP) Project is Qatar’s first sewage treatment project delivered through a PPP model, being developed by a consortium led by Metito Utilities alongside Al Attiya Motors & Trading Company and Gulf Investment Corporation. With an initial capacity of 150,000 m³/day and a planned ultimate capacity of up to 600,000 m³/day, the facility will serve rapidly growing urban areas in southern Qatar and treat wastewater into high-quality treated effluent. The project is located near Mesaieed City in the South of Qatar and will be part of Ashghal’ s plan to develop an integrated sewage infrastructure in Al Wakrah and Al Wukair areas, which have experienced significant population growth and urban development in recent years.
By combining international private-sector expertise with local capabilities, the project supports Qatar National Vision 2030 objectives and enhances the reliability, resilience, and reuse potential of the country’s wastewater treatment system.
