Metito,
the international water treatment, desalination
and wastewater treatment expert, sponsored the Industry
Leaders' Night organised on the sidelines of the
International Desalination Association's (IDA) World
Congress on Desalination and Water Reuse in Singapore
recently.
Leading desalination and water reuse experts from
around the globe participated in the biennial Congress,
hosted at Swissotel in Singapore from September
11 to 16, 2005. The Metito-sponsored Industry Leaders'
gathering on September 12, organised at Chijmes
Hall and adjacent courtyards, was attended by over
600 dignitaries, industry experts and other visiting
delegates to the Congress.
Metito participation in the high-profile
Congress and exhibition was part of its commitment
to the desalination and water reuse industry and
its enhanced role, especially in key infrastructure
projects around the world. The IDA Congress, aimed
at developing and promoting the appropriate use
of desalination technology worldwide, encompassed
over 17 sessions with 100-plus technical papers
covering the latest advances in the field of design,
construction, maintenance and operation of desalination
and water treatment plants.
Top officials of Metito also chaired
key sessions as part of the technical program
of the Congress. Mr. Fadi Juez, Managing Director
of Metito, co-chaired Session 10 of the program
on September 12, titled Post-treatment, Health
and Environment, while Mr. Bassem Halabi, Business
Development Manager, Metito co-chaired Session
16A on September 13, titled Wastewater Reclamation,
Repurification & Reuse.
Talking about Metito's participation
in the IDA World Congress, Fady Juez said: 'The
IDA Congress is a prestigious event for the global
desalination industry and it was our pleasure
to be present in such a big way at the high-profile
forum. Wastewater treatment and the environment
are core issues for the society. The IDA Congress
shed light on the overlapping elements between
these areas and its impact on sustainable development.
Specifically in the session which was co-chaired
by me, we attempted to address the health and
environmental impacts of desalination and reuse
technologies with an emphasis on boron control
techniques.'
In his comments, Mr. Halabi said:
'In line with the mandate of the global environment
laws, Metito believes in following appropriate
wastewater engineering. Our commitment to the
environment is well known and this Congress in
Singapore gave us an ideal opportunity to showcase
our expertise to the entire world. As part of
our technical session chaired by me, we basically
addressed the use of membranes, which has transformed
the reclamation of municipal and industrial wastewater
treatment.'
Metito also showcased its expertise
at the exhibition organized on the fringes of
the IDA Congress. The company's booth No. C4 presented
an overview of its project execution and latest
technological advancements.
Mr. Halabi added: 'Metito has
been associated with many complex wastewater treatment
facilities in various parts of the world and its
expertise in environmental compliance and economic
benefits is renowned. This opportunity to be at
the premier conference focused on the fastest
growing sector of global water market and was
indeed a distinguished participation for us.' |
