METITO
ANNOUNCES AED 16.5 MILLION CONTRACT WITH ABU DHABI
MUNICIPALITY TO BUILD TREATMENT WORKS ON DELMA ISLAND,
UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

Metito to be co-sponsor
at Aqua 2000 Conference in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi Municipality has awarded an AED 16.5 Million
contract to Metito, the water and wastewater treatment
specialist for the construction of a fully integrated
sewerage system to serve Delma Island.
The new system will mean that the sewage will no
longer be dumped but rather made use of by being
treated to further assist in the Island's development
and its preservation of water.
The works now under construction will be able to
cope with the demands of up to 10,000 people on
Delma Island which is located 210 km north west
of Jebel Dhana.
Metito will be responsible for every element of
the project from detailed engineering to manufacturing,
supplying materials, construction, commissioning
and maintenance of the mechanical and electrical
works of the sewerage system.
This project is part of an overall planned program
by the Abu Dhabi Municipality through the Sewerage
Projects Committee, to provide for modern sewage
systems to all towns and villages in the Western
Region of Abu Dhabi. The projects consultants are
KEO International in joint venture with Metcalf
& Eddy of USA.

The announcement of this project comes as Metito
has been invited to be a cosponsor of the Aqua Abu
Dhabi 2000 Conference organization by Abu Dhabi
Municipality. This major five day conference will
deal with the issues of wastewater management for
a better environment and starts on 28 April.
Many of the major projects Metito has undertaken
both here in the UAE and across other regions will
be exhibited at the conference. Metito is a global
leader in the provision of modern water treatment
works, water desalination and sewage treatment systems.
Originally founded in Lebanon in 1958 as the first
and foremost Arab Company specializing in that field,
it has now evolved to become a multinational group
of companies operating worldwide.

in Sharjah. Other worldwide offices are in London,
Houston, Cairo and Jakarta.

from Abu Dhabi Municipality which is the latest
project Metito has undertaken as part of the overall
western region sewerage project.
"This project, due to be completed in October
2001, will bring significant benefits to the residents
of Delma Island - improving the ability to irrigate
land for cultivation and improving the health of
the local marine environment which is so important
to local fisherman.. Metito is also very proud to
be participating in Aqua 2000 - an important conference
which can help to bring improved environment management
systems to this region."
